I recently participated in the Susan G. Komen – Race for the Cure 5K Run – October 1st, 2011. There is nothing better than getting fit for a great cause! With my iPhone in hand, and one of my awesome Coaches to make my experience grand, it was definitely what any runner would call “a Race Celebration“. The event was well-organized, and I loved the fact that there were all-u-can-eat blueberry muffins (I only ate one lol), bananas, bottled water, bagels, and I was able to grab a few smoothies from Smoothie King before they eventually ran out. Don’t worry, I took a little bit of everything “AFTER” the race! I am definitely looking forward to the next race, in which I will be diving into Tough Mudder Tampa on December 3rd, 2011. Tough Mudder Tampa will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which focuses on honoring and empowering wounded warriors. A ten+ mile trail running, obstacle-based endurance race, it will sure be a challenge, but a fun one at that =).
Fitness is a huge passion of mine, and by doing what I love, and helping local charities and supporting global causes, it just makes what I love doing, just that much more rewarding. I have found that by helping the people around you, things just happen to fall into place. Some people call this “good karma”, I just call it “doing the right thing“.
Enjoy the photos =)
After the race, Jessica and I walked down the street into the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St. Petersburg. Apparently this market happens every Saturday morning, and let me tell you, it could be very dangerous if you do not have any “will-power”. There was food everywhere, and especially after a 5K race, most people would be looking to eat a buffet! With all the temptations around us, we luckily ended of finding a really cool place that served up fresh smoothies and home-made style, and might I say very amazing and delicious Veggie Burgers – the best I’ve ever had! Who says healthy food isn’t good, it’s out there =).
